The Euro lottery was launched in February 2004 by the UK, France and Spain. A lot has changed since the early days and including a name change “Euro Millions” and the inclusion of other countries namely, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland and Austria.

Euro Millions will only get bigger as more European Countries join. The current rules dictate that only residents of European Countries who participate are able to buy tickets. Online syndicates however, have discovered a loophole that allows anybody around the world to effectively play the game.

The combination of an array of European countries joining together has meant that Jackpots prizes are huge with the biggest so far totaling £100 million pounds. Players can win prizes from 12 prize tiers. To win the jackpot you will need to match 5 balls from 50 and an additional 2 drawn from 9 (these are known as lucky stars). The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 76 million to win. This compares to the UK National Lottery where the odds are 1 in 14 million to win the jackpot. Likewise the odds of winning the smaller prizes by matching less numbers are 1 in 24.
